Made to order. Your Rime is handmade for you after you order and ships in 4–5 weeks.

Nature is always changing its palette. The sky just before rain, frost on a window, the Hudson at dusk — color shows up differently depending on where you are and when. The lighting collection is an attempt to hold some of those moments, and every shape is named for the weather.

The Rime is named for the frost that forms on branches and windows on the coldest mornings. It's an angular, diamond-shaped form, larger than the Cloud, with plenty of surface for the pattern to move across.

Each Rime is made using the nerikomi technique — colored clays are layered and folded into porcelain, so the pattern runs through the entire body of the piece, not just the surface. The surface has a soft, canvas-like texture.

Choose your palette:

  • Celadon — celadon, taupe, sage gray, and deep crimson
  • Wedgwood Blue — Wedgwood blue, taupe, and sage gray
  • Robin's Egg Blue — robin's egg, deep crimson, taupe, and sage gray

Choose your base:

  • Plug-in — comes with a cord and plug, ready to use
  • Hardwired — mounts to a junction box; installation by a licensed electrician required

No two nerikomi pieces are ever exactly alike. Each pattern is built by hand, so the piece you receive will be its own variation of the palette you choose; it may not be an identical match to the photos, but a piece entirely its own.

Frequently asked questions

Where are your pieces made?

Every piece is handmade by me in my studio in Beacon, New York.

I use the Japanese nerikomi technique, layering and marbling colored stoneware clays so the pattern runs through the entire piece—not just the surface. Because of this, no two pieces are ever exactly alike.

When will my order ship?

Ready-to-ship orders are packed within 2–4 business days.

Made-to-order pieces are crafted just for you and typically ship within 2–3 weeks.

You'll receive tracking information as soon as your order is on its way.

Are your pieces food/microwave safe?

Yes.

All tableware is made from food-safe stoneware and finished with a food-safe glaze. They're also microwave safe.

Hand washing is recommended to help preserve the finish for years to come.

What if my order arrives damaged?

If your order arrives damaged, please email me within 48 hours with photos of both the packaging and the piece.

I'll make it right with a replacement or refund.

Can I return my order?

Because each piece is handmade and one of a kind, I generally don't accept returns for change of mind.

If something isn't right with your order, please reach out—I'm always happy to help.

Do you take custom orders?

Yes!

I love creating pieces for restaurants, gifts, weddings, and custom home collections.

Feel free to get in touch to discuss your idea.

Do you have a physical shop?

Not yet.

You can find me at select markets throughout the Hudson Valley, local workshops, and online here at Flint and Marble.

What is Nerikomi?

Nerikomi is a Japanese ceramic technique where colored clays are layered, pressed, cut, and reassembled before a piece is formed.

Instead of painting color onto the surface, the pattern exists throughout the clay itself—making every piece completely unique.
