Frequently asked questions
How long until my sconce ships?
Every sconce is made to order and ships in 4–5 weeks. For delivery before the holidays, order by mid-November.
What's the difference between plug-in and hardwired?
A plug-in sconce comes with a cord, so you just hang it and plug it in. A hardwired sconce connects to a junction box in your wall and needs a licensed electrician to install it.
Do you work with designers or take custom orders?
Yes. I work with interior designers, architects, and homeowners on custom palettes, multi-piece installations, and larger projects.
Trade pricing is available for design professionals.

What is nerikomi?
Nerikomi is a way of building with colored clay rather than painting color onto the surface. Colored clays are layered, folded, and pressed into porcelain, so the pattern runs all the way through.
The name is Japanese; in Korea, where I learned it, it's called yeonrimun. Because every pattern is built by hand, no two pieces are alike.
Will my piece look like the photos?
Close, but not exactly. Each piece is its own version of the palette you choose, which is part of what makes it one of a kind.
Where are your pieces made?
In my studio in Beacon, New York, in the Hudson Valley. Every piece is made by hand, one at a time.
When will my order ship?
Made-to-order pieces ship in 4–5 weeks. You'll get a tracking email as soon as it's on the way.
What if my order arrives damaged?
Email hello@flintandmarble.com within 48 hours of delivery with your order number and photos of the piece and packaging.
I'll replace it or refund you.
Can I return my order?
Because every piece is handmade and one of a kind, I don't accept returns for change of mind. If something isn't right, please reach out. I'll always do my best to make it right.
Do you have a physical shop?
I don't have a storefront, but studio visits in Beacon are available by appointment.
