Inquire About Workshops
Your hands. Something made.
Flint and Marble brings a fully mobile nerikomi clay workshop to you — for a birthday, a friend gathering, a team offsite, or just a group of curious people who want to try something new with their hands. Your group designs and patterns their own functional pieces in colored clay — food safe, microwave safe, and made to be used every day. No experience needed. Just curiosity, creativity, and a table to work at.
The Experience
Birthdays & Celebrations — A hands-on way to mark the occasion. Guests leave with something they made themselves, not just a party favor.
Just for Fun — Gather your friends, your book club, your neighbors — no reason needed beyond wanting to make something together.
Wellness Event — A rare opportunity to slow down, focus, and make something with your hands. Meditative, tactile, and genuinely restorative.
Team Building — Hands-on creative work that levels the playing field. No hierarchy at the clay table, just your team making something together.
Holiday Event — Give your group a gift they made themselves. Pieces are fired, finished, and shipped back — a keepsake that lasts well beyond the day.

About David
David Jo is the founder and artist behind Flint and Marble, a ceramics studio based in Beacon, New York.
After more than a decade working in HR, people analytics, and organizational psychology, David stepped away from corporate life to pursue ceramics full time. While traveling through Korea, he discovered nerikomi — a traditional technique of building with colored clay rather than decorating the surface. He was immediately drawn to the idea that pattern and color could exist throughout the material itself, making every piece completely unique.
Today, David creates contemporary nerikomi ceramics that celebrate color, pattern, and the quiet beauty of everyday rituals. Each piece is thoughtfully handcrafted from colored clay, ensuring no two are ever alike.
His background in organizational psychology naturally carries into his teaching. David designs workshops that are welcoming, approachable, and collaborative — helping people of all experience levels feel comfortable creating while enjoying the process together.
David teaches mobile nerikomi workshops throughout New York City and the Hudson Valley, partnering with studios, businesses, libraries, flower shops, and private groups to bring the experience directly to their communities.
